About the Author
I’ve been writing stories and columns in newspapers and magazines since 1985. As to the question, am I an expert on this subject?
The answer is no, but I do have two distinct advantages in writing on this subject. I am well-read and informed on the subject
matter, and secondly, I write in a plain language style that is well-accepted by the public.
My religious background is a pure form of Christianity which is best stated in the Deist philosophy. A belief in a natural God, a God who has a plan for the universe which He does not alter either by intervening in the affairs of human life or suspending the natural laws of the universe. I do have a religious and philosophical belief that a supreme natural God exists and created the physical universe, and that religious truths can be arrived at by application of reason and observation of the natural world.
What I will lead you on here is a path of events that greatly influenced a young boy, a young man, and a husband and father on the importance of God in one’s life and also in other people’s lives, plus the role the church plays in that development. So, by putting all these things together: my experiences with Sunday school, my time spent helping people along on the path to Heaven, venturing through the different denominations and the whole youth movement “thing”, I’ve developed some understanding of the “Christian experience”. It’s my understanding and only mine, but I would like to share this with you in hopes that you can find your own meaning to the jigsaw puzzle we call faith, religion, and God.
